Guitar Scales for Beginners - An Introduction

Guitar scales... "Who needs 'em?" says one. "No, you MUST know them!" says another. Both are accomplished guitarists or trusted sources. Which to believe? The latest article on Guitar Scales helps you sort through all the noise and point you in the best direction for YOU.

Hands On Review of the Planet Waves Tru-Strobe Tuner

The Tru-Strobe tuner from Planet Waves is one of the most accurate on the market, but how easy is it to use? Is it the right tuner for you? Find out in the latest Hands On Review...

Hands On Review of the Planet Waves Chordmaster CTM

If you can imagine a pocket-sized device that provides three key tools for the guitarist: a chromatic tuner, a metronome, and a chord dictionary, then you've got a basic understanding of the Planet Waves CTM (Chordmaster - Tuner - Metronome). Over seven-thousand chord forms, an easy to use metronome, and a solid tuner all packed into device small enough to fit in an ample pocket... plus backlighting... plus a stand! Want to know more? Read the Chordmaster Hands On Review.

Work In Progress:

Coming soon to the web-site!

  • Guitar Scales: More on how to play major and minor scales and the patterns that work on guitar.

  • A Guitar Pro 5 Hands-on Review.

The folks at Arobas Music finally got their Mac-act together and released a copy of GP-5 that works with the new OS-X Leopard operating system. I'm hoping to have this Hands On Review in time for next month's installment.

  • Planet Waves Sweep/Strobe Pedal Tuner:

I hope to have my hands on one of these in the next couple days. As soon as I do, I'm going to get it out and start testing it at home and on stage. Stay tuned for the lowdown on this highly regarded pedal.

SIDEBAR: Keep up to date with all the changes by subscribing to our RSS feed (click to open a window of help and subscription instructions). It will keep you up to date with new pages and other special announcements. I will not overload you with every grammar-fix, new image, or other minor mod.

Updates & Announcements

You've probably noticed a slow-down in the pace of articles posted on Start-Playing-Guitar.com, other than Hands On Reviews. There's a reason for that.

Like everyone else, I need to make a living. This web-site pays for itself, thanks to readers like you, but it doesn't pay the bills. So, I've been spending most of my time over the past several months starting a new business: Select Sounds LLC

The purpose of Select Sounds LLC is to provide quality guitar accessories at a fair price while delivering great customer service. In order to accomplish these goals we'll test and evaluate many products. You can already see the evidence of those tests in the latest Hand's On Reviews posted to Start-Playing-Guitar.com.

I'll also be reviewing product recommendations from people I trust, customers, and readers of Start-Playing-Guitar.com. These recommendations may lead to additions to product inventory. So, if you have a favorite guitar product, I'd love to hear about it. Simply send your recommendations to: Steve@SelectSoundsLLC.com Include the name of the product and why you like it so much.

As with most small businesses, this one is crawling before trying to run. The initial inventory is limited, and there is no dedicated store yet, though one is planned. However, in the meantime you can find us on eBay as selectsoundsllc. I hope you'll look us up.

Go For A Big Finish!

I hope you've enjoyed this issue of The Bridge. See you next month!
